Today at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a training course on combating sexual and gender-based violence against migrants has opened.
The course is organized for employees of departments of the Department of Citizenship and Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Border Committee from all regions of Belarus.
The event has been held under the auspices of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Organization for Migration. With the support of the European Union, these organizations, together with the police department and the State Border Committee of Belarus, are implementing an international technical assistance project “Assisting the Republic of Belarus in resolving issues related to increasing the number of irregular migrants”.
This training course has been held on the topic “International Standards and National Experience in Preventing and Responding to Cases of Sexual and Gender Violence Against Migrants”. Belarusian specialists and experts of the NGO “Belarusian Association of Young Christian Women” has taken part in the preparation of training materials.
The refresher course will end on November 1 with a debriefing and presentation of certificates.
