Excursus into the history of the Academy
The Educational Establishment "The Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus" has been counting its history since 1958, when the Minsk Department of the Extra-Mural Study Department of the Higher School of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs was established. The creation of the department was determined by the order of the Minister of the Interior of the USSR on March 21, but the actual functioning of the department began from the appointment of the head. So, in pursuance of the order of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the USSR (order of March 21), an order was issued by the Higher School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR on May 16, according to which Vladimir Umnyagin was appointed head of the Minsk branch of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the BSSR. After a number of renaming and transformations in 1976, the Minsk Higher School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR appeared, which inscribed a number of significant pages in the history of the militia alma mater.
Today the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is one of the most prestigious universities of the university type of our country. Our graduates work in all areas of the republic, many are heads of services, bodies and subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, are awarded high state awards and honorary titles, are professionals of the highest class.
Academy of the MIA today
Students of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus are transferred knowledge and experience of highly qualified teachers. Future officers are trained by the police departments, investigative and criminal and executive. Forever remains in memory of the solemn ritual of taking the oath of freshmen. On the day of graduation, cadets wear shoulder straps of police and internal police lieutenants.
Training specialists are also carried out by the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Advanced Studies and Retraining of Leading Personnel. The Scientific and Pedagogical Faculty deals with the organization and training of personnel of the highest scientific qualification for educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, practical subdivisions of internal affairs bodies, the Investigative Committee, the State Committee of Forensic Expertise and other law enforcement agencies. The Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has 19 departments, which act as permanent organizers and participants in international and national scientific forums. The names of the scientists of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are known in the professional circles of our country, the CIS countries, the countries of the far abroad.
The educational establishment is a member of the International Association of Police Academies (INTERPA).
Two times in a row the academy awarded the Prize of the Government of the Republic of Belarus for achievements in the field of quality.
